On March 18, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and leaders of some ministries visited the waste to energy factory in Dong Van Industrial Zone, Ha Nam province.
Mr. Nguyen Gia Long, Director of HCM Hydraulic Co., Ltd, said that the technology of solid waste treatment by gasification produces syngas as a fuel for electricity generation WtE has been successfully tested.
During the testing, the plant cleaned 208 tons of solid unsorted waste by Ha Nam Urban Environment Company; lighting for the entire lighting system of Dong Van 2 Industrial Park. Characteristics of waste electrical power technology WtE is no need to sort waste from its sources, no landfill, no secondary emissions, closed procedure, no chimney, no air pollution.
Listening to the opinions of ministries, Vietnam Electricity Corporation (EVN), Ha Nam province on new technology, the Prime Minister acknowledged that this is the creative work of Vietnamese intellectuals, first applied in Vietnam. “ For academics, this is a good lesion between theory and realistic. Do not let us spend hundreds, thousands of billion to study but cannot applying into real life” Mr. Phuc said.
The Prime Minister assigned ministries, sectors, Ha Nam province to create conditions for the company to complete technology, put into commercial production, contributing to reducing environmental pollution and economic development. The Ministry of Science and Technology continues to instruct the company to complete procedures to be granted intellectual property cerficates and WtE certifications and certification environmental standards for WtE technology.
Ministry of Industry and Trade and EVN should test in particular, technical appraisal, grid connectivity and stability. If it is technically feasible, the Ministry should guide the company to compile the dossier, the electricity purchase contract, the connection procedure to the national electricity grid, guide the dossier and procedures for inclusions in the list of domestic goods. The PM noted the issue of electricity prices in a spirit of support for environmental protection projects.
Given that there are a lot of work remaining to do from the pilot model to the production of goods, the PM expects that in the near future the project will succeed on a larger scale, with wider application.
Vietnam currently treats solid waste mainly by landfilling. This method is both expensive and seriously affecting the environment.
